The Tamagotchi Connection V2 was first released in 2005, a year after the original Tamagotchi Connection. It's the second modern release of Tamagotchi since the originals in 1996. This is an improved variant of the V1, containing 2 baby characters, 4 toddlers, 10 teenagers, and 35 adult characters which make up a total of 51, compared to the previous 17.
The Tamagotchi was the first to introduce the shop feature that has become standard in the newer versions. The shop is found under the 'Game' menu, and features 4 items that can be purchased. The shops stock refreshes at 3:00pm, 7:00pm and 12:00am. The shop can also be refreshed by changing the time to one of those above.
The shop also features secret codes that can be used to unlock certain items that are otherwise unavailable. The items are free for the first use, but have to be purchased with Gotchi points if you wish to use them again. The codes can be entered by pressing the 'B' button until the shopkeepers face looks surprised, and then by pressing the corresponding button.
The V2 introduced Gotchi points which are used to purchase items from the shop. You earn Gotchi points by playing games with the Tamagotchi, and being rewarded a certain amount of points at the end, depending on how well the game was played. The maximum points you can hold is 9999.
